PCSOS Training Modules
The PCSOS – Protecting Children in Sport: Developing Safe and Inclusive Sport Organizations project, funded by Erasmus+, has developed a comprehensive training program designed specifically for sports managers, coaches, and referees.
The aim of this program is to strengthen child safeguarding in sport by providing practical knowledge, tools, and strategies that can be directly applied in daily practice. On this page, you will find detailed training modules as well as supporting educational videos, all of which focus on preventing abuse and neglect, building safe and inclusive sporting environments, and ensuring that every child can enjoy sport in a positive and protective atmosphere
These resources not only raise awareness but also equip professionals with the competencies to identify risks, apply international standards, and implement effective safeguarding policies within their organizations.
Module Descriptions
SPC101 – Child Rights and Ethics in Sport
This module introduces the principles of children’s rights in sport and explores the ethical responsibilities of professionals. Participants will learn to recognize harmful practices, analyze ethical dilemmas, and apply international codes of conduct to create safe and inclusive environments
SPC102 – Fundamentals of Child Protection in Sport
Focusing on the main types of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect), this module equips participants to identify risks, recognize early warning signs, and understand the role of safeguarding officers and committees. Practical strategies for prevention are emphasized
SPC103 – Strategies for Creating a Safe Sports Environment
This module provides guidance on establishing environments that are physically, psychologically, and socially safe. Topics include facility and equipment safety, psychological well-being, inclusion, anti-discrimination measures, and the promotion of an ethical climate in sport
SPC104 – Child Protection: Intervention and Reporting Protocols
Participants will learn how to respond appropriately to suspected or confirmed cases of abuse. The module explains legal and ethical obligations, reporting pathways, crisis management, and confidentiality principles, ensuring that safeguarding procedures are both effective and responsible
PCSOS Child safeguarding education 101
This introductory video presents the foundational concepts of child safeguarding in sport, explaining the different types of abuse and neglect that can occur in sporting environments. It highlights psychological violence, bullying and cyberbullying, physical and economic abuse, neglect, sexual violence, and intercultural risks
The aim is to help sports professionals recognize these issues early and understand their impact on young athletes.
PCSOS Child safeguarding education 102
This video focuses on the responsibilities of all personnel involved in sport — including coaches, referees, staff, volunteers, parents, and safeguarding officers. It explains how each role contributes to preventing abuse, maintaining professional boundaries, ensuring safe environments, and applying reporting procedures
